FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOCAL PROFESSIONAL WORKS TO MEET CHANGING NEEDS OF OLDER CANADIANS
Daniel Harsent, with A1 People Care Ltd. completed a comprehensive course on priority aging issues on October 13, 2010. The course is conducted by the Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors, Canada’s premier Academy training professionals about the changing needs of aging clients and customers. Successful participants complete a thorough examination to earn the Certified Senior Advisor, CSA™ designation. Daniel Harsent has taken this educational initiative to become a professional leader in meeting the key needs and issues concerning maturing Canadians.
Professionals in the fields of medicine, insurance, investments, housing, government services, and recreation require a broad spectrum of information to serve better the needs of older adults. Whether financial, medical or social, baby boomer and senior concerns are different from other age groups. The Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors keeps the professional abreast of all these issues by providing education, monthly updates, support and assistance regarding new developments, practices, and research about aging in Canada today.
In the history of the world, two-thirds of all people who have lived past the age of 65 are alive today. By 2015, we will have more people over the age of 60 than under the age of 15. This has never happened before in the history of Canada, and requires an educated response in how professionals work with the challenges and opportunities facing our maturing population.
As a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Daniel Harsent will participate annually in continuing education provided by the Academy. The CSA membership will ensure that Daniel remains an informed professional for the 50 plus and senior citizens.

First $1000 Bonus Cheque Just Awarded!
Victoria BC Nov 1, 2008 -- What do you do when turnover is high,
and qualified employees are almost impossible to find in the first
place? For a1 People Care Ltd, a Victoria home-care provider, the
answer was “do things that have never been done before!”
“With fast food places offering unheard of wages and benefits,
with unemployment at record low levels and a shortage of
qualified nursing staff and caregivers, we were in a real jam!”
says Dan Harsent, VP of marketing. “We had to look outside our
industry to find things that worked and implement them in this field.
We brought in a benefit package—I think that was a first for an
agency like ours. But the really wild idea was to offer employees
a $1000 bonus after they worked 1000 hours"

Arlene McElwaine, office manager for a1, just recieved the first
$1000 bonus cheque. “Holy Cow!” was all she could say when
the surprise cheque was handed over. “When we implemented
this idea and started advertising it, we suddenly got applications
from more people, higher qualified people, and of course, they're
sticking around to earn their bonus! Arlene is the first of hopefully
many a1 staff who will be rewarded with $1000” beams Lori Ann
Harsent, President, and daughter of founder Fran Pelton.
